Foton Greatly Raises Annual Sales Goal

Foton auto （600166）sales rose despite the gloomy sales of commercial autos in the first half of the year, its sales up 14.5 percent year-on-year. Based on this, Foton decides to raise 2009 annual sales plan from 420,000 units to 560,000 units.
Commercial auto sales were nearly not influenced by national stimulus policies, only vans sales saw a stable rise. Commercial auto production&sales from Jan. to June were 1.5719 million units and 1.5650 units respectively, production output up 1.64 percent year-on-year, sales down 0.52 percent.
However, Foton auto sales from Jan. to June were 287,000 units, up 14.5 percent year-on-year, ranked the first in commercial auto sales in China. In the first half of the year, new products of Foton, such as MP-X and Midi saw a rise of 126 percent, and View up by 30 percent.
Based on the anticipation of the second half of the year, Foton decides to raise 2009 annual sales plan from 420,000 units to 560,000 units.
