English.chinabuses.com: on Jul. 8, Dongfeng Motor Group announced that its new energy vehicle products, including hybrid bus and all-electric bus, have been approved of serial production.

On Jun. 19 this year, the group applied for the approval of serial production of its new energy vehicles to Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in line with Regulations on Production Management of New Energy Vehicle rolled out by National Development and Reform Commission.

In addition, according to some insiders, Dongfeng Motor Group is now in talks with Detroit Electric Holdings Ltd. from the US on new energy vehicle cooperation. With a total investment of USD 30 -40 million at the least, the collaborative project is expected to produced and sell electric-powered vehicles in both China and Europe. Sean McCabe, a spokesperson for Detroit Electric Holdings Ltd. disclosed at a recent press conference that the company and China’s auto giant may probably set up a joint venture which will produce and sell electric drivetrain systems to Dongfeng and other automakers. 

 

As the third largest auto manufacturer in China, Dongfeng Motor Group has been strongly supported by the governments at various levels in terms of its new energy vehicle development. In Jun. this year, Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, which will provide a solid foundation for the company’s sustainable development in auto industry, completed its construction and went into official operation.
