English.chinabuses.com: on Jun. 29, a grand ceremony was held to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of millions of Tibetan serfs on Potala Palace Square in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region in Southwest China. 1,433 units of Foton commercial vehicles (CVs) of various categories, which were lining neatly on the square, will be dispatched to every administrative village across Tibet.

To further help alleviate poverty of the local farmers and herdsmen, the Central Committee of CPC and the State Council has rolled out a series of favorable policies. On Jun. 29, a batch of materials was donated by the central government to the autonomous region, including 1,433 Foton commercial vehicles, such as remodeled coach mobile hospitals and light-duty trucks.

Due to the harsh geographic and weather conditions in Tibet, only vehicles with high level of drivability and reliability are fit to put into service there. After several round of intense biddings held by the government, Foton finally stands out and is given permission to serve in Tibet.
