Dongfeng Lotus CNG Minibuses Start Service in Dongguan

On May 31, 2009, fifty units of Dongfeng Lotus CNG city buses were officially put into operation in Dongguan in Guangdong province. It is the first fleet of environmentally friendly CNG minibuses that have ever served urban residents in the city. Dongguan, thus, has also become the first city to introduce CNG city buses in Guangdong. On the very first day of their operation, these eye-catching buses immediately grabbed many local residents attention.

As they are entirely powered by natural gas, some people wonder how much is one bus’s mileage after a gas refill. It is revealed by some officials that the minibus, with a designed carrying capacity of 21-30 passengers, is capable of traveling about 370 kilometers nonstop after fully refilled.

In Mar. 2007, Dongfeng Lotus series minibus, built by Dongfeng Van Co., Ltd. successfully passed the first rollover test in China. Later, it has obtained required certificate to enter Europe.
