On Apr, 22, 2009, China Beijing International Exhibition on Buses, Trucks, & Components (short for Beijing Bus & Truck Expo) was opened to the public at Beijing Exhibition Center. GAO Hongfeng, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Transport (MOT) made a keynote speech and cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
Under the theme of “Energy-saving, emission reduction, environment protection and safety”, the exhibition attracted over 80 bus & coach builders and components manufacturers from both home and abroad.
Foton AUV brought its BJ6125, BJ6126, BJ6123 and BJ6100 to the show and successfully won great media and public attention.
At the awarding ceremony on the opening day, Foton AUV BJ6123 and BJ6125 received China Road Transport Cup Best New Energy Coach Prize and Best Road Coach Prize.
Although Foton AUV is still a quite newcomer in the bus & coach building industry, it begins its business in this sector from a very high start point and has entered the high-end coach market. Having acquired its own integral bearing technologies, Foton AUV can build buses & coaches without chassis, which help reduce the gross weight of its bus or coach by 15% and improves fuel economy by 2-3%. Moreover, the bus & coach provide 10% more cargo space and offers passengers with more travel comforts.
BJ6125，a luxury coach model, is targeted at the tourism industry in both domestic and international markets. Measuring 12 meters in length, 2.55 meters in width and 3.86 meters in height, the coach has 47 seats. From the ceiling of the coach to its floor, it is 2.1 meters high, thus it is very comfortable for passengers to travel with the coach.
Currently, buses & coaches with integral bearing or semi-integral bearing body frames account for about half of the total fleet in Europe and the USA. However, the sales volume of buses & coaches with integral bearing body frame only holds less than 10% market share in China. Given that the bus & coach with integral bearing presents so many advantages, it is expected that more and more buses & coaches on the road will be equipped with integral body frame in the near future.
