Apr. 7, 2009: At the award ceremony of Busworld Asia held in Shanghai, Suzhou Higer grabbed 2009 BAAV Best Bus Builder, the third time of the company awarded with the most important honorary title. In the meantime, the company also received 2009 BAAV Best Intercity Bus Prize, 2009 BAAV Best Luxury Coach Prize and 2009 BAAV Best Bus Safety Equipment Prize. Thus, Suzhou Higer has grabbed a new record high number of prizes from Busworld Asia in China's bus & coach manufacturing industry and successfully expanded its market recognition.

 

 

After a little more than one decade's development, Suzhou Higer has witnessed its sales volume surging from 1,546 units at the beginning to 16,454 in 2008. In the meantime, its sales income shot up from RMB 240 million (about USD 35.12 million) to RMB 5 billion (about USD 732 million). Currently, the company boasts a modern bus manufacturing base covering 500,000 square meters and its products have already made their presence in 55 countries and regions across the globe.

 

 


Faced with unprecedented challenges and difficulties in 2008, Suzhou Higer realized a sales volume of 16,454 unit buses and a sales income of RMB 5.16 billion (about USD 755 million), up by 2.26% and 10. 66% year on year respectively. In terms of export, the company sold 3,321 buses abroad and registered an export value of RMB 1.378 billion (about USD 202 million), up by 16.85% and 8. 29% year on year respectively. In addition, the bus builder has become one of the Top 100 Enterprises in China's Machinery Industry and one of China's Top 500 Brands with a brand value of RMB 6.136 billion (about USD 898 million) in 2008 World Brand Lab.   

 
Efforts Made both Within and Without to Combat the Crisis


In 2008, China's bus & coach industry was faced with a package of difficulties, including surging raw material prices, overcapacity and reduced purchasing orders. Against such a backdrop, Suzhou Higer took a series of measures, such as holding thirteen "Higer Safety Lectures" in six cities and Product Promotional Activities, to ensure the stable growth of its sales volume.


Meanwhile, the company kicked off the official operation of its supplying chain and became the only enterprise that passed the on-spot assessment of National Inspection System in 2008, which laid a solid foundation for the company's overseas expansion. 


To sharpen its products' competitiveness and speed up their upgrading, Higer strengthened the construction of its R&D team and built new complete bus lab and R&D center. In 2008, the company rolled out 34 new bus models and improved 386 bus models already in existence.

Since its establishment, Suzhou Higer has been committed to pushing forward innovation in its management, technological level, marketing pattern and brand image. Its hard work finally pays off and tangible results have already been achieved. In the area of management, it has been actively involved in learning and absorbing the advanced management methods and operational philosophy in the global business. In terms of technology, it has set up cooperative ties with Scania and has been quite active in introducing new design concepts from the global bus & coach industry. Thus, its products boast superior design and are equipped with very advanced technologies. To better market its products, it has set up its Call Center and opened Green Channel. As a result, its service quality has been greatly improved. In terms of brand promotion, the bus builder has transformed itself from depending on other brand to having its own brand. From its Higer Safety Lecture to its first Safety White Paper, the company has gradually but steadily improved its brand image and established a good fame across the nation.
