Hebei Changan Posts Profits in the First Quarter

Since the start of 2009, Hebei Changan Bus Co., Ltd. has been actively seeking business opportunities while taking advantage of the government's favorable policies towards auto industry, including the Auto Industry Revitalization Plan and Vehicles Going to Rural Area Campaign, etc. By making adjustments to its product mix and marketing network and improving post-market service, the bus builder churned out 56,778 vehicles and sold 60,863 units in the first quarter of 2009, up by 11% and 19% year on year respectively. Thus, the company posted handsome profits despite of the gloomy economic climate.
In response to the government's Vehicles Going to Rural Area Campaign, Hebei Changan upgraded its mini-vehicles' cargo capacity and enhanced their reliability. Meanwhile, it rolled out some new economical commercial vehicle models, like Xingguang 4500, Urban Rainbow series and mini-buses, all of which are mounted with engine below 1.3L and are targeted at China's vast rural market.
