Dongfeng New Project to Target on High-end Light-Duty Buses

March 27, 2009: Dongfeng Motor Group held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new light commercial vehicle (LCV) production base, A08 Project, on the afternoon of Mar. 24 in Gaoxin District in Xiangfan, Hubei Province. Leaders from the automaker and Xiangfan Municipal Government attended the ceremony.
From the early Dongfeng Xiaoba Wang and Dongfeng Cassidy, two types of light-duty trucks, the company has expanded its product spectrum to eight types, including engineering vehicles, light-duty buses, pick-ups, SUV and MPV, etc. Its production and sales volume has surged from less than 20,000 units when it went public to 170,000 in 2008.
The new project launched by Dongfeng is to produce light-duty buses for the high-end market. Through its independent R&D, the new bus model is generally recognized as internationally competitive. Equipped with unitary construction body and passenger-car chassis, the new bus model provides its passengers with extra comforts. Moreover, it can meet European Ⅲ Emission Standard.
