www.chinabuses.org: Recently, Cummins (Korea) partnered with BFCEC and invited Korean Daewoo Bus Corporation to jointly hold the “Green Drive Campaign”. This campaign was intended to collect the voices of end customers, further optimize the overall performances of Cummins ISF3.8 engine, and improve the product costperformance.

In addition, it’s intended to propagate the advantages of ISF3.8 engine, including power performance, fuel economy, drivability, and emission, and expand the influence of Cummins engine in Korean market. This campaign was held in three of Daewoo service stations, namely Bundang, Pyungchon, and Ilsan, in Korea.

The Korean Ministry of Environment implemented the Air Environment Protection Law on January 1 this year. According to the relevant law, all diesel vehicles with a gross weight in excess of 3.5t must meet the Euro-VI emission standard for distribution within Korea territory. To meet the needs of Korean Daewoo Bus Corporation, Cummins upgraded its available ISF3.8 engine successfully to Euro-VI emission standard, which has already entered into mass production phase.

“BFCEC engine had no problem!” This was the word we heard mostly during this customer visit campaign. When being asked about the operation situation of ISF3.8 engine at a service station, the customer’s answer was almost the same word: “BFCEC engine had no problem!” During the accompanying visit, many customers not only rested on the oral appraisal on BFCEC engine, but also expressed their recognition of BFCEC engine in actions.

Mr. Park from Gyeonggi was the first customer we met at the first service station. It’s learnt from communication that Mr. Park was not a user of BFCEC engine before and he learnt from his counterparts that the Daewoo Lestar small-sized and medium-sized bus powered by BFCEC 3.8L engine had excellent performances and good services.

Especially, the BFCEC 3.8L engine boasted strong power and smooth power output and completed the startup and climbed slopes with ease, which exactly adapted to the overall road characteristics of more uphill and downhill roads and less level roads in Korea. Therefore, Mr. Park purchased his first medium-sized and small-sized bus powered by BFCEC ISF3.8 engine. As a kindergarten school bus driver, Mr. Park started on time from home at 6:30 each morning, picked up the children at the stations of various residential sub-districts, and delivered them safely to the kindergarten.

“My family members said that I was too dogmatic. I drove my previous vehicle for 5 years and I also ever drove the buses of other brands. But I precisely felt that this vehicle I drove was really powerful and stable, with low noise.” Mr. Park said truthfully. During the operations, Mr. Park found out that, compared with other brands, the BFCEC engine also boasted good fuel economy in addition to the good power performance, which further affirmed Mr. Park of his choice of BFCEC engine. “I will help you propagate the strong power performance of BFCEC engine with my own experiences."

At the end of the visit campaign, Mr. Park thumbed up joyfully! T h e C u m m i n s I S F 3 . 8 L E u ro - V I e n g i n e manufactured by BFCEC features good thermal exchange performance, light weight, low vibration and noise, and high reliability. A great amount of optimization and improvement is made in terms of the structural improvement of combustion system, the application of new materials and new processes, and the matching of finished vehicle to improve the driving comfort while reducing the vibration and noise of engine. The successful upgrade of Euro-VI emission standard will bring about more potential customers and market expansion opportunity for ISF3.8 engine and further boost and consolidate the influence of Cummins ISF engine in the markets both home and abroad.
