Summarize:ZF Driveline and Technology Co., LTD. , its ZF AVE 130 electric portal axle for electric drive concepts in low-floor buses and hybrid system components were named as best new energy bus power system components award.

www.chinabuses.org: On August 8th, the winning awards conference of the 3rd SAINZ Energy Saving & New Energy Bus Innovation Contest was successfully held in Beijing. China's Urban Public Transportation Association released the winner list in the innovation contest on the aspects of the average oil saving rate (the power consumption value), the highest oil saving rate, the minimum fuel consumption value (the lowest power consumption value) . Among them, for ZF Driveline and Technology Co., LTD. , its ZF AVE 130 electric portal axle for electric drive concepts in low-floor buses and hybrid system components were named as best new energy bus power system components award.

The awarding conference

At the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 in Hanover, ZF presents the volume production version of the AVE 130 electric portal axle with improved gear geometry for even quieter running. The axle has already been used in field test Stuttgart and Hamburg, and in regional transport associations.  ZF incorporates these findings into the axle still in 2012.

With a maximum axle load of 13 tons and a motor performance of 2x120 kilowatts, the low-floor axle is also suitable for big city buses. The wheels are driven individually via water-cooled asynchronous motors with a two-step ratio. The serial hybrid operation together with the low-loss electric direct drive of the AVE 130 facilitate fuel savings of up to 30 percent compared with conventional diesel drives.

Lane-independent city buses with out emissions - with the AVE 130, ZF now makes possible what was unimaginable in the past. The successes of the field tests running since 2010 speak for themselves: 150 electric portal axles have already been used and have now reached a total mileage of about 1.5 million kilometers. The majority of this was performed in articulated buses of the EvoBus manufacturer that is using the AVE 130 in serial hybrid operation together with a downsizing diesel generator. Compared to conventional diesel drives, the AVE 130 convinces with its energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, locally emission-free driving. By the end of 2013, many customer projects will be implemented worldwide.
