Auto Parts Export in Guangdong Remains Low

According to the Customs, auto parts export was 590 million US dollars from Jan. to May in Guangdong, down 25.6 percent year-on-year. The characteristics of export are:

 
First, export remains low. Auto parts export in Guangdong remains 130 million US dollars every month since 2009.Auto parts export was 130 million US dollars in May in Guangdong, down 28.8 percent year-on-year, down 2 percent as against last month.

Second, general trade export takes a leading role. General trade export auto parts was 380 million US dollars from Jan. to May in Guangdong, down 26 percent, accounts for 65 percent of total auto parts export in Guangdong; meantime, processing trade export auto parts was 180 million US dollars, down 27.9 percent.

Third, export to main markets declined greatly. Auto parts export markets in Guangdong from Jan. to May were: Hong Kong, the United States, European Union, Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Japan. Export to Hong Kong was 130 million US dollars, down 31 percent; export to United States was 110 million US dollars, down 32.3 percent; export to European Union was 60 million US dollars, down 40.2 percent; export to Association of Southeast Asian Nations was 40 million US dollars, down 10.5 percent; export to Japan was 400 million US dollars, down 46.9 percent. Above mentioned accounts for 65.8 percent of total auto parts export in Guangdong.  

Fourth, foreign-investment enterprises and private enterprises export the most. Foreign-investment enterprises and private enterprises export from Jan. to May in Guangdong auto part export was 300 million US dollars and 190 million US dollars respectively, down 28.9 percent and 14 percent respectively, accounts for 83.2 percent of total auto parts export in Guangdong.
