“50 of the 122 buses used Yuchai engines. Our first group of State III buses all use Yuchai engines,” chief of the transportation department of Shishi public transport authority Lin expressed his favor to Yuchai engine. “All the newly 34 buses purchased this year are Kingdragon KLQ6800G assembled with Yuchai YC4G180-30 engines.”
At the stage of State II, Shishi public transport system mainly used engines produced by another maker. Those engines had a number of quality problems. During the transition of State II to State III, after checking the high maintenance costs of the previous engine brand, the city government put Yuchai as the first choice and staged public biddings to introduce buses equipped with Yuchai State III engines.
“Of the 11 buses assembled with Yuchai 4110 engines that we bought in 2005, the fuel consumption averaged as low as 16L /100 kilometers with reliable quality and stability,” The chief of the department said. “The after-sales service of Yuchai is in place and on time. Whenever there is a problem failure, the personnel of Yuchai service station will be there in 1~2 hours to solve the problem.” Shishi public transport authority favored Yuchai engines in purchasing new buses.
Due to the state stimulus policy of the “public transport first”, the purchasing power of buses for public transport shifted from large cities to the 2nd and 3rd tier cities. The vehicle models changes from 10.5 m and above large size buses to 8-9 meter medium size buses. The YC4G State III engine is targeted the 8-9 meter bus that is used on urban roads. Its four-valve technology and the low rotate speed range designed in accordance with the driving speed of urban public transport effectively reduce the fuel costs.
