Data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on May 8, 2009, shows that the situation of auto industry is getting better domestically and still worse abroad. Import and export data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that despite export in March rises, export in the first quarter still falls 60％.
It is reported that CKD export decline greatly for the first 4 months year on year, it affects the growth of auto production and sales. CKD export up slightly as against last month, exports t 26,000 units, up by 5.9%.
Zhu Yiping，deputy Secretary-General of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers analyses, auto CKD companies average month export down by 50%, down by 61% from Jan to Apr, parts and components export down by 35.4% year on year, the situation of auto industry export is still severe.
Shang Yugui, deputy general manager of Great Wall Automobile Co., Ltd, said, export plan only accomplishes less than 60,000 of 70,000 units because of the global financial crisis, The situation continues deteriorated from Jan to Apr this year, down by 40% year on year, sales volume reaches 10,000 units.
Parts and components export, however, are on the rising. Customs data sorted out by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that parts and components export regain stability instead of dropping, and up greatly year on year. Engines export 161,200 units, up by 37.55% as against last month, auto parts and components, accessories and auto body export reach 1.048 billion U.S. dollars, up by 59.92% as against last month.
Xiong Chuanlin,Deputy Secretary-General of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said, there is no doubt that CKD export decline,however,the situation of parts and components export is getting better.
Xiong Chuanlin thought, there are three reasons for parts and components export getting better, firstly, our parts and components aim at the foreign CKD after-sale markets, though the CKD market is in the recession, the maintenance market is getting better.” Though it’s hard to sell CKD, the auto needs repairing when broken." Therefore, there is still a great market."
Secondly, some parts and components companies in the United States, Europe have worse ability to resist risks, they bankrupted because of the financial crisis, therefore, its original market orders naturally go to China.
Last but not least, the larger parts and components companies abroad can not reduce costs to meet the needs of CKD plants; the orders given up by them also go to China.
