FAW’s R&D Center first accomplished its test run for the V12 engine to be installed on the upscale cars on Feb 22, 2008. Top leaders of the FAW Group, including Xu Jianyi, An Dewu, Teng Tieji and Wu Shaoming attended the ceremony of engine ignition.
FAW R&D Center commenced the V12 engine project (also known as CA12GV project) in Feb 2007, and took 10 months to accomplish planning, styling design, engineering design and test run of the engine. The success of V12 engine means FAW Group gains much progress at the development of powerful engines. This is FAW’s another technological breakthrough following the development of CA6DL engine and JB8 engine.
The V12 engine has following technological advantages: advanced combustion system; combined work of master/slave ECU; double Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) system; full aluminum light weight design; advanced NVH design, noiseless chain transmission. Adoption of advanced technique of the engine results in the optimized fuel economic efficiency, better drivability and lower emission. Through the development of the V12 engine FAW Group knows better on the key technique of the V-engine, which lays down a solid foundation for the development of V6 and V8 engine.
