www.chinabuses.org: Recently, it is known from the public transport department that there will be over 800 city buses with low floor in operation in Beijing, which replace the city buses with three steps that increasingly reach service life.

It is the objective for Beijing Public Transport Group to reduce the height of floor for passengers' convenience. In recent years, the step of bus is changed from three-step to two-step and from two-step to one-step. Since 2003, the company has purchased 4000 one-step city buses available for wheelchairs and got passengers' unanimous approval. The current three-step city buses will be replaced with the increasing usage life.

In 2010, the company will apply over 800 city buses with low floor and continue such technical route. The floor of the new city buses will not be higher than two-step.

It is introduced that it is the development direction to adopt one-step for city buses. More and more developing countries such as Brazil use one-step city buses, apart from the developed countries in North America and Europe. It is more human-centered and safer for passengers. Such buses have been popular in developed countries and there will be more ones with the prosperity of cities.
