Shanghai to Build up NEV Production Base in Three Years

English.chinabuses.com: on Jul. 18, Shanghai unveiled the plate of its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) and Key Parts & Accessories Production Base to the public. At the ceremony to mark the event, our reporter learnt that with a total investment of RMB 3 billion (about USD 439.110 million) in the first phase, the new base will further boost the comprehensive development of Shanghai’s NEV industry.
Also at the ceremony, SAIC and Shanghai Jiading Dist. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, according to which, the two parties will continue to increase investment and take more concrete measures so as to strive for making some breakthroughs in the rising sector, thus upgrading Shanghai’s auto industry.
Located in Waigang Town, Jiading Dist., the base covers a planned area of four square kilometers. Equipped with sound infrastructure, the base has become home to a number of institutions such as SAIC Automotive Engineering Research Institute, NEV Engineering Center of Tongji University, Ground Traffic Wind Tunnel Laboratory, and Rail Traffic Laboratory as well as a host of internationally famed automakers.
