“Over three decades, the Jinan Plant has grown into a vital hub within ZF’s China and global operations,” said Wang Runyi, Executive Vice President of ZF Group, President of ZF China, and President of Operations Asia‑Pacific. “Leveraging Jinan’s industrial strength and talent, we have localized advanced technologies, enhanced R&D capabilities, and shifted from local adaptation to leading‑edge innovation.”
Smart Manufacturing Benchmark
Established in 1996, the Jinan Plant is a cornerstone of ZF’s China strategy. It has evolved into an integrated base for trucks, buses, and trailers, covering assembly, manufacturing, R&D, and services. Over 20% of its products are exported to major global markets. Through automation and digital upgrades, the plant has advanced smart manufacturing and lean production, boosting efficiency, quality, and cost competitiveness—strengthening its role in ZF’s global production network.
Advanced Products for Safety & Efficiency
The plant operates 69 production lines, 29 product families, and over 1,000 product models, specializing in braking systems, air management, driveline, and transmission components. It is expanding into electronic products such as ECUs.
At the anniversary event, ZF launched mass production of its new intelligent trailer electronic braking system (iEBS) in Jinan. Featuring intelligence, safety, a compact design, and ease of use, iEBS enhances vehicle safety and efficiency. Additionally, the future‑oriented mBSP modular braking platform, with full redundancy for Level 3+ autonomous driving, is accelerating local production.
Local R&D Hub
Founded in 2011, the ZF Jinan R&D Center is a major commercial vehicle R&D base within ZF’s global network. It has established a complete local R&D system covering design, simulation, testing, software, and system development, driving local engineering innovation and technological competitiveness.
