On September 10, BYD held a major delivery ceremony in Denmark, officially handing over its 5,000th electric bus in the European market to local public transport operator Umove. This milestone underscores BYD’s leadership in promoting the electrification of public transport across Europe.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, stated: “The delivery of our 5,000th electric bus in Europe reflects BYD’s long-term commitment to the European market and our unwavering efforts to transform public transportation. We are honored to achieve this milestone alongside like-minded partners. Our shared dedication to sustainable mobility will drive us toward a cleaner and better future for Denmark and the entire European continent.”
Annelise Arboe Sommer, CEO of Umove A/S, commented: “BYD’s electric buses are of great significance to green transportation in Denmark. This represents not only technological advancement but also promises cleaner air and more livable urban environments for Denmark. We are proud to deepen our cooperation with BYD and jointly advance sustainable transport development in the country.”

The delivered buses are BYD’s B12 model, specifically designed for the European market and marking its first delivery in the region. Leveraging decades of BYD’s innovation in battery and chassis development for commercial vehicles, the B12 demonstrates outstanding performance and cutting-edge technology, setting a new benchmark for electric buses in Europe.

Equipped with Blade batteries, the B12 has a capacity of up to 491 kWh, offering a range of over 600 kilometers on a single charge and a maximum passenger capacity of 105. The bus innovatively adopts CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, which significantly enhances vehicle rigidity while reducing weight and lowering the center of gravity. Battery space utilization is increased by 50%, and overall vehicle weight is reduced by 10%, achieving a dual improvement in range and energy efficiency.
The B12 will soon be deployed in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, other BYD electric buses, including the K9UD, will also serve various routes across Denmark, providing passengers with a quiet, smooth, and zero-emission travel experience, and strongly supporting Denmark’s efforts to accelerate the transition to zero-emission transportation and achieve sustainable development goals.
To date, BYD’s commercial vehicles have received over 7,000 bus orders in Europe, with operations spanning more than 160 cities across 26 countries. The cumulative mileage has reached 650 million kilometers, equivalent to a reduction of 690,000 tons of carbon emissions.
