Shandong Government Delegation Visits Peru and Chile: Surveying Shandong Heavy Industry Latin American Business

From July 21 to 27, Sun Ximin, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, led a Shandong provincial government delegation to visit Peru and Chile, aiming to deepen and solidify cooperation and exchanges between Shandong and Latin American countries. Man Shengang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Shandong Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, as well as Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, also participated in the visit.

The delegation held a series of business activities, including the China (Shandong) - Peru Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange and the China (Shandong) - Chile Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange. They signed economic and trade cooperation projects, widely connected with government departments, important trade associations, and business community members of both countries, and promoted in-depth and pragmatic cooperation in multiple fields between Shandong and the two countries. This effort is aimed at helping Shandong build a new high-level platform for opening up to the outside world. Sun Ximin affirmed the development of the Latin American business of the provincial state-owned enterprises and Shandong Heavy Industry Group and put forward higher requirements for further deepening economic and trade cooperation.

On July 22, at the China (Shandong) - Peru Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange, Weichai signed a business cooperation agreement with Modasa Group, and China Heavy Duty Truck (Peru) Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated.

On July 23, the delegation visited the bus station of Cabal Group in Chile and inspected the electric buses delivered by Zhongtong to customers. They also held talks with the Chilean Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications to gain a detailed understanding of the overall situation and development plans of Chile’s bus system, promoting further cooperation between the two sides. After the meeting, an event was held to celebrate the first female drivers of Zhongtong buses in Chile, where symbolic bus key models were handed over to two trainees of the “Women Drivers Program.” Zhongtong Bus, with its leading core technology and customized development capabilities, successfully won a large order for 895 new energy buses in Chile this year.

On July 24, Man Shengang presided over a special meeting on the Latin American market for Shandong Heavy Industry, listening to reports on the business development of its affiliated enterprises in Latin America. Man Shengang noted that Shandong Heavy Industry has been continuously optimizing its market layout and building a brand matrix. In the first half of this year, its export revenue to the Latin American market increased by 40% year-on-year, with rapid breakthroughs in high-end products and a significant enhancement of brand influence. Latin America is an important strategic market for Shandong Heavy Industry’s internationalization, with huge potential for future growth. The company should continue to lead with high-end products, intensify market development, accelerate local layout, leverage the group’s product portfolio and business synergy advantages, and promote rapid and sustainable growth of its Latin American business. It should actively participate in the high-quality co-construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative,” showcasing the good reputation of Chinese manufacturing and Shandong’s high-quality products.
