BYD Expands Hungary Commercial Vehicle Factory, Targets 1,000+ Units Annual Output

On June 27, 2025, BYD celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its commercial vehicle production facility in Komárom, Hungary. The project includes the construction of a new 29,000-square-meter smart manufacturing facility, significantly boosting annual production capacity for electric buses and trucks to over 1,000 units. This milestone marks a major step forward in BYD’s Europe localization strategy.

Since entering the Hungarian market in 2005, BYD has been actively laying out its industrial map in Europe. In 2016, the bus and truck plant in Komárom was completed, laying the foundation for the company's localization development in Europe. In addition, the construction project of BYD's passenger car plant in Szeged is also advancing steadily. The expanded commercial vehicle plant will deeply integrate digital, intelligent and green manufacturing technologies to accurately meet the growing urgent demand of the European market for zero - emission public transport solutions.

This expansion will see BYD create hundreds of high - quality jobs in Komárom, injecting strong economic vitality and a reserve of technical talent into the local area.

Based on more than a decade of experience in the European market, BYD's electric buses have served more than 160 cities in 26 European countries, with a cumulative operating mileage of over 590 million kilometers, equivalent to a reduction of 630,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It continues to lead the European electric bus market.
