BAIC Foton Signs MOU for Local Factory in Saudi Arabia

Recently, led by Chang Rui, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of BAIC Group, Deputy General Manager of BAIC Group, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of BAIC Foton, BAIC Foton successfully promoted two major cooperation projects in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia: signing a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a local factory with the Saudi government and enterprises, and delivering 1,000 school buses to Saudi customers.

At present, Saudi Arabia is in the strategic window period of accelerating the industrial transformation of the "Vision 2030". BAIC Foton seized the opportunity and made a breakthrough in the Saudi market. On June 19, Foton International Trade signed a quadripartite memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Investment Ministry, the Saudi National Industrial Development Center, and the well-known Saudi company Petromin. They plan to jointly build a commercial vehicle local manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia, mainly producing heavy trucks, light trucks, and buses. This cooperation project is an important measure for the Saudi government to promote industrial localization under the "Vision 2030", and BAIC Foton will help the local manufacturing and logistics development, strengthen the supply chain, improve the level of localization, increase employment opportunities, and drive the development of local small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also help the industrial and economic transformation and sustainable high-quality development of Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, this project is also an important achievement of BAIC Foton's continuous layout of the "internationalization" strategy and in-depth market cultivation. At present, BAIC Foton has established 32 local factories worldwide, and its products and services cover more than 130 countries and regions. This cooperation with Saudi Arabia marks a further upgrade of BAIC Foton's global industrial chain coordination capabilities.

On June 21, BAIC Foton officially delivered 1,000 customized school buses to a major Saudi customer. These buses will be used for the daily commuting of local students and will serve Riyadh and Jizan, a southern city in Saudi Arabia. These school buses are equipped with Cummins ISF2.8 engines, which significantly improve the vehicle's power output efficiency on steep slopes and meet the stable commuting needs under long-distance uphill and downhill conditions. The vehicles are also equipped with an ESC stability monitoring system, which pays more attention to the safe travel of students. The dual-side air ducts have been specially optimized and the cooling system has been upgraded for the extreme climate in Saudi Arabia, providing students with a cooler and more comfortable commuting experience. The long wheelbase and independent adjustable child seats provide students with a larger and more comfortable space and higher safety performance. At the same time, a service guarantee system of full-process service tracking, strategic reserve of key spare parts, and round-the-clock service has been built to further ensure the safe travel needs of students. This delivery marks a breakthrough for BAIC Foton in the Middle East education travel field and will also help local customers create a better life with "technology matching + service in advance".
