At the awarding ceremony, Ankai autonomous driving bus won Intelligent Commercial Vehicle Advanced Technologies Award after accomplishing a series of testing tasks and fully showcasing the highest manufacturing standards in the bus making industry in China.
According to the organizing committee of this year’s event, autonomous driving buses were required to complete nearly 20 testing tasks in four major application scenarios. Working on closed and semi-closed roads, all vehicles have to identify traffic lights and make corresponding decisions, avoid barriers and change lanes, automatically slow down and drive below the speed limit, identify pedestrians and avoid them. Speeding and inaccurate parking will be penalized. Industrial experts and insiders from Chongqing University and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) were invited to act as panel judges.
Ankai autonomous driving bus, which obtained China's first autonomous driving bus operation permit, independently accomplished a series of complex tasks obtained the full mark.
According to Xiao Yaqing, the minister of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Chinese government will continue to attach paramount importance to the development of intelligent connected vehicles and creating a more amiable environment for innovation and industrial upgrading.
Ankai officially launched the development project of autonomous driving buses years ago. It has been participating in a number of state-level key research projects and promoting the road tests and experiments of autonomous driving vehicles.
In 2017, Ankai autonomous driving buses started operation in Shenzhen, ushering a brand new era of public transportation. Soon, they successfully made their presence in Wuhan, Tianjin, Hefei, Macao and Japan.
