www.chinabuses.org: Recently, Higer revealed that it would focus on developing pure electric vehicles in the future three years. Zhang Weilin, director of Suzhou Higer Bus New Energy Research Institute, says that the company's priority in 2014 is to develop a new set of series system. When the series system switches on its electric power, the power generator will non longer serve the driving. The power generated will enter energy storage devices (cell and capacitor), which will provide energy for motors. With the development of system powered by pure electricity, the engine can be removed.

In addition, Higer is making every effort to improve the self-adapting technology of new energy buses. So far, Higer plug-in hybrid bus has already matured with only its self-adapting control needs to be further improved. Zhang adds that in 2015, Higer will upgrade its hybrid technologies again, further moving towards the direction of pure electric bus. By then, hybrid buses cannot be expected to receive the same amount of subsidies as they do nowadays. Against such a backdrop, Higer is already considering how to further boost the profitability of its hybrid buses with limited subsidies.

In addition, Higer plans to further upgrade its whole electric controlling system, moving further towards manufacturing pure electric bus. Zhang concludes that for the next three years, the company will try its best to make a successful transition to developing pure electric buses. The company is also hoping to make some new breakthroughs in power cell development.

Currently, Higer new energy bus production base (covering a land area of 430 mu with an investment of 1.5 billion RMB in the first phase), which started construction last year, is now going smoothly. The first production line, to be completed by the year end, boasts an annual production capacity of 10,000 units of buses.
