Bus Sales Down 38% in January

China's bus sales in January 2009 fell 37.74% from a year earlier to 19,100 units, the data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Sales of large, medium and light buses all saw month-on-month and year-on-year decline.
In January only 19,100 buses were sold in the Chinese market, down 27.65% month on month and down 37.74% year on year. Large buses saw the biggest fall in sales, followed by medium-size buses, and the light buses which had the relatively smaller fall of more than 30% from a year earlier.
China's bus sales in January this year included 2,992 full size buses, which is a decrease of more than 50 percent compared with December 2008. Further 4,361 medium-size buses were sold, down 36.89% from December, and 11,732 light buses, down 9.77%.
Sales of articulated buses grew to 1,790 units, an increase of 1.8 times compared with the same period of last year.
