According to the requirement of National Environmental Protection Department, since July 1, 2008, all the commercial vehicles over 3.5 tons must apply to National Standard III, which means all the new produced buses enter the “Era of National Standard III”. Four months later, if the bus manufacturing enterprises have completely adapted to the requirement of National Standard III? With this question, the reporter went to the well known bus manufacturing enterprise ----Zonda Bus, and had a face to face talk with Cai Jiangzhou, the General Manager of Zhongwei Bus Limited Company, Zonda Auto Group.


 

It is known that the vehicle applied to National Standard III can highly reduce the infectant emission, and the amount is around 40% less than the vehicle of National Standard II. For the national bus manufacturing enterprises, the implement of National III Standard is a severe test. After all the requirements in the aspects as design, equipment, etc of the vehicle applied to National Standard III are much higher than the one applied to National Standard II.


 “Actually the National Standard III since July 1 has not much affection to Zonda Bus. Early one year ago, our buses had already realized National Standard III, which blocked fault products from the source, and made it easy for us to face the new standard.” Cai Jiangzhou told the reporter. After the issue of ‘GB17691-2005 Infectant Emission of Compression Ignition, Spark Ignition Engines for Vehicles and the Vehicles Exhaust’ on May 30, 2005, Zonda Bus began the R&D of National Standard III buses, and in 2007 all products realized National Standard IIII, and even up to European Standard IV. 


 

As a well known national bus manufacturing enterprise, Zonda Bus’s Action in Advance left a deep impression in the industry. Acts as A9 broke the appearance homogeneity of Chinese buses, promise of “Crossbeam for Ten Years” and quality proclamation of “220 Project” all promoted the development of Zonda Bus. And so that’s to be expected that Zonda Bus takes easy facing the National Standard III.


 

“Zonda Bus seeks more energy saving and environmental protecting buses, and we have done much work on this, while Zonda Bus applying to National Standard III is only one node of this process,” said Cai Jiangzhou. Since 2005, Zonda Bus cooperated with well known engine manufacturing enterprises as Yuchai, Weichai and Cummins to R & D National Standard III engine suit for Zonda Bus. Active research and unremitting effort make the tens of bus models of Zonda Bus all apply to National Standard III, and be accepted by the market. And during the Beijing Olympic Games this year, more than a hundred Zonda double-decker buses formally served Beijing public transport system.


 

The reporter was very interested in the real energy saving and environmental protecting bus as Cai Jiangzhou mentioned. Being asked how to R&D such a bus, Mr. Cai said, “energy saving and environmental protection is the main trend of the world nowadays, and the necessary conditions to construct harmonious society of China. Zonda Bus, as a bus manufacturing enterprise, should surely apply to the general requirement, pay attention to the improvement of the performance of energy saving and environmental protection. Except the choice of such engine for the bus, we will also start with reducing the weight of bus and minishing the wind resistance, to respond actively to the implement of Limitation and Measuring Standard of Bus Fuel Wastage. Now Zonda Bus is arranging the related R&D persons, together with the national well known R&D institutions, colleges to discuss the lightness of bus, and it is believed that the achievement will soon come out. In the aspect of minishing the wind resistance, Zonda has added circularity to the bus, so as to change step by step the appearance with edges and corners. Zonda A9 and YCK6127HG buses are the best examples. Zonda Bus is confident to produce more energy saving and environmental protecting bus.”


 

Since July 1, 2010, National Standard Ⅳ will also implement within China, which is another chance and challenge for Chinese bus manufacturing enterprises, including Zonda Bus. It is known that Zonda Bus has made a huge investment in R&D National Standard Ⅳ buses and new energy buses. More energy saving and environmental protecting Zonda buses will soon come out.
