According to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China sold 19,687 units new energy city buses in the first half of 2020, down by 29.16% year on year.

From January to June this year, the sales volume of electric city buses accounted for 85.03% of the total sales volume new energy city buses, down by nearly two percentage points; the sales volume of plug-in hybrid city buses accounted for 12.98% of the total, up by 3.36 percentage points; the sales volume of fuel cell buses accounted for nearly 2% of the total, down by 1.36 percentage points.

In the same period, the sales of electric buses went down by 30.8% year on year; the sales volume of plug-in hybrid buses dropped by 4.45% year on year; the sales volume of fuel cell buses decreased by 58% year on year.

It is also noted that the competition among new energy bus makers further intensified in the first half of this year. Yutong ranked the first place in the market with a market share dropping by 6.6 percentage points to below 30% level; BYD ranked the second place with its market share rising by 9.3 percentage points; Zhongtong ranked the third place with its market share decreasing by 2.7 percentage points. The combined sales volume of top ten players in the new energy bus market accounted for 85.61% of the total sales, up by 8.22 percentage points.
