Summarize:On April 7, Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Zhongtong) revealed that the bus maker sold 2,300 units buses & coaches in the first quarter of 2020, down by 19.47% year on year. More specifically, it sold 1,131 units large-sized buses, up by 18.43% year on year; 692 units medium-sized buses, down by 43.92% year on year; 477 units light buses and logistic vehicles, down by 28.49% year on year. In the same period, the bus maker produced 2,472 units buses & coaches, down by 10.08% year on year.
Despite the negative impacts of COVID-19, Zhongtong still managed to register a monthly production and sales volume of 1,185 units and 952 units respectively in March. More specifically, it sold 708 units large-sized buses, up by 89.30% year on year; 152 units medium-sized buses, down by 77.51% year on year; 92 units light buses and logistic vehicles, down by 71.95% year on year.
To make full preparations for the reopening of schools, Zhongtong held a free program online on March, 9, helping schools take more effective measures in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in schools.
Also in March, Zhongtong received a major order of 80 units 10-meter school buses with 56 seats from school bus operator, Guosheng. Equipped with sanitizing lamps, thermometers, etc., all the 80 units school buses will be put into operation in Dongguan.
On March 18, the 14th Great Influence to China Bus Industry, which was jointly hosted by chinabuses.org and the Urban Public Transport Branch of China Civil Engineering Society (CCES), revealed that Zhongtong won three major awards, including Star Fuel Cell Bus Award, Recommended New Energy Bus Model Award and China Bus Brand with Outstanding Achievements Award.
On April 2, Sun Qingmin, president of Zhongtong, pointed out that the bus maker would continue to diversify its product line and strengthen its marketing efforts, aiming to increase its quarterly sales volume to 4,210 units buses & coaches and its sales revenue to 1.586 billion RMB with a growth rate of 10% year on year in the second quarter this year.
