CAAM Releases Production & Sales Data of China’s Auto Industry in May

www.chinabuses.org: On June 13, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) officially released statistics about the production and sales in May, showing that both production and sales dipped compared with those in the previous month, but both went up compared with those in the same period last year.
In May, China rolled out 2.0649 million vehicles, down by 5.08% against that in the previous month and up by 5.01% against the same period last year; in the same month, the nation sold 2.0917 million vehicles, down by 1.66% against that in the previous month and up by 9.75% against the same period last year. In the field of commercial vehicle industry, China produced 292,800 units, down by 12.73% against that in the previous month and up by 1.98% year on year; the nation sold 298,600 units commercial vehicles, down by 13.01% against that in April this year and up by 1.40% year on year.
Compared with the statistics in April this year, the production and sales of both buses and trucks went down. In comparison with the same period last year, the production and sales of trucks saw a slight growth while those of buses witnessed a sharp drop. From January to May, China’s auto industry maintained a steady growing momentum in both its production and sales. The country’s production and sales volume of vehicles reached 10.8435 million and 10.7552 million respectively, up by 5.75% and 6.96% year on year. The year-on-year growth rates were 2.57 percentage and 4.85 percentage higher than those in the same period last year. In the meantime, the production and sales volume of commercial vehicles reached 1.5163 million and 1.4970 million respectively, up by 0.89% and 2.32% respectively. The top fifteen players in the commercial vehicle market are BAIC, Dongfeng, Chang’an, SAIC, JAC, FAW, CNHTC, Brilliance Auto, Lifan, Changcheng, Shaanxi Automobile, King Long United, Tangjun Ouling, Yutong and Chengdu Dayun. One highlight of China’s auto industry is the fast growth of new energy vehicle sector. From January to May, the sales of electric passenger vehicles accounted for 45% of the total sales of new energy vehicles, that of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles 24%, that of plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles 29% and that of electric commercial vehicles 2%.
