China Rolled Out 19,500 Electric Buses from January to July

www.chinabuses.org: According to the latest statistics, China produced 19,500 units electric buses in total from January to July this year. Compared with 2,430 units produced in the same period in 2014, the number soared by over seven times. Yutong, with a total number of 5,715 units electric buses in the first seven months of this year and a market share of 29.3%, is way ahead of its counterparts in China. The second comes Zhongtong, which produced 2,241 units electric buses in the same period and achieved a market share of 11.5%. Dongfeng and Nanjing King Long, with a total production volume of 1,538 units and 1,433 units of electric buses respectively in the first seven months this year, ranked the third and fourth place. Also worth mentioning is that Dongfeng grew by a whopping 21871% year on year and Nanjing King Long by 202%.  Higher and Golden Dragon ranked the fifth and sixth place with a total production volume of 1,293 units and 1,157 units electric buses in the first seven months this year.

 

China Rolled Out 19,500 Units Electric Buses from January to July


In July alone, the total production volume of electric buses in China reached 6,371 units, which is 24.5 times more than that in the same period last year. Yutong, with its production volume of electric buses standing at a jaw-dropping 2,784 units in July, accounted for a record high of  43.7% in China’s electric bus industry.


Following Yutong, Zhongtong’s monthly production volume of electric buses in July reached 883 units in July, which made up 13.9% of the whole market share. Dongfeng, with 515 units electric buses in July  and a market share of 8.1%, ranked the third place in China. According to sources, the majority of Dongfeng electric buses are Dongfeng Yufeng new energy vans.


In the meantime, medium and light buses measuring 6-8 meters in length are the main force in the electric bus market in China. Usually, a 12-meter electric bus costs over two million RMB, which able to buy several 6-8 meter electric buses. Because of this, 12-meter electric buses are the favorite for many bus operators, governments, and companies.


Some analysts say that the year of 2015 is key to the government’s drive to promote the popularity of new energy buses. Due to this, many places across China have intensified their efforts to introduce more environmentally friendly buses for the public transport sector.


Since June this year, electric bus market has maintained a fast growing momentum. In June, the production volume of electric buses grew by 4.5 times year on year and 138% month on month. In July, the production volume of electric buses (6,371 units) grew by 15% compared with the monthly production volume in June. In addition, it is nearly as many as the production volume of electric passenger vehicles in the same month. With such a fast growing momentum, it is believed that China’s electric bus industry will continue to prosper in the rest of this year.
