New Energy Bus Dropped by Nearly 60% in Apr.

Summarize:

www.chinabuses.org: After an explosive growth in Mar., the production of new energy buses in Apr. dropped by 58.93% against that in the previous month, registering at 623 units.

According to the data released by No. 1 Electric Power Research Institute, China rolled out 143 units of electric buses in Apr., down by 73.86% against that in Mar., up by 76.54% year on year. In the meantime, the production volume of plug-in hybrid buses stood at 480 units, down by 50.52% against that in the previous month.

BYD, which ranked the first by rolling out 312 units of electric buses in Mar., only produced 10 units in Apr., dropping to the sixth place. King Long, which only produced 32 units electric buses, ranked No. 1 in China. An analysis shows that the sharp decrease was mainly caused by the fact that the two enterprises have finished the production of 1,000 new energy buses newly purchased by Nanjing.

Jilin Gaoxin Electric, Yixing, FAW Bus, and Shanxi Yuxing, which rolled out electric buses in Mar., failed to make any production of the green buses in Apr. Given above, it can be seen that the production volume of new energy buses is largely dependent on the number of orders that bus makers receive. Without new demand, electric bus cannot expect to see a fast expansion in its production volume.

Bus makers like Zhengzhou Yutong, Shenzhen Wuzhoulong, Chongqing Hetong and Foton AUV have shifted their focus on 6-8 meter fast-recharging mid- and small-sized electric buses, which boast a huge market potential and are entitled to enjoy a handsom amount of governemt subsidies.

In terms of plug-in hybrid buses, Zhongtong ranked the first by rolling out 110 units. Yutong followed second by producing only 90 units.
