Part One: Sales Analysis of China Mainstream School Bus Builders in 2011


In 2011, more and more bus builders in China are focusing on the school bus market. The school bus sales of YuTong Bus and Chang'an Bus are more than 1,000 units, which contributue to the  size & rapid development of the school bus market. The market concentration share of the top 10 bus builders is 89.35%. And the market concentration share of the top four bus builders is 64%. The school bus market has started the prelude of the preliminary competition.
 

Based on the statistics from chinabuses.com research center, until December 2011, there are nearly 50 bus builders who have done the declaration of the school bus announcement in China, so they are permited to produce and sell the shool buses in China market. According to the statistics, it is known that 6,318 units of school buses were totally sold in China by nearly 30 bus builders in 2011. The total sales of the top ten bus builders were 5,645 units, which amount for 89.35% of the total school bus' sales. The following is the analysis data of the top ten bus builders:

From above data, it is seen that


1. The top four bus builders in school bus sales are Yutong Bus,  Chang'an Bus, Dongfeng Bus and Shaolin Bus. Their total market share in 2011 was nearly 64% in the sales of the China school bus market. So the other bus builders' market share in school bus market was only 36%. Now the school bus market share in China relatively concentrates in the mainstream school bus builders. 


2. The sales volume of the school buses for Yutong Bus and Chang'an Bus were both more than 100 units. These two bus builders now have gradually taken up the school bus market and now becomes the main bus builders. Especially for Chang'an Bus, in 2011, the total sales of its buses & coaches were 4,281 units. And the school buses were sold 1,207 units, which accounted for 28.2% of the total bus & coach products. And now school bus is become the main important bus product for the bus builders.  


3. The school bus market in China is just opening its beginning of competition.  


Part Two: The distribution of the school bus sales is imbalance in regional markets. The top ten key regional markets occupies 75.1% market share, among them, Guangdong market share is the highest one.

From above data, it is seen that among the sales of school bus, in different regional markets in 2011, Guangdong market is the top one, then is followed by Shandong Province, Liaoning Province, Henan Province, Jiangsu Province, etc. regional market. The Top ten regional market share is 77.6% which shows its distribution of the school buses is imbalance.
