www.chinabuses.org: Recently CAAM published production and sales of China auto industry in 2010, in which, 358,600 buses and 356,200 buses were produced and sold, up 34.71% and 16.13%. However, some giant China Auto Group did not perform well in selling large buses, medium buses and light buses.

Although FAW, Dongfeng Automobile, GAC and CNHTC’s sales of chassis were advantageous, but their sales of complete bus products did not do well.

According to statistics from CAAM, as many as 60,000 large buses were sold last year, up 48.39% over 2009, of which, Yutong Bus, Higer, King Long, and Golden Dragon Bus were still listed the top four on sales of large buses.

As many as 38,400 large buses were sold by the top four bus builders, taking 64% of market share in China. There are 17,500 buses, 8,400 buses, 8,000 buses and 4,500 buses were sold by Yutong, Higer, King Long and Golden Dragon Bus.

Huanghai Bus sold 3,800 buses, ranking the fifth. And the eleventh largest bus seller, Guilin Quick Bus, they sold 1,265 buses and then it was FAW bus.

814 FAW large buses were purchased last year, although their sales was increased by 88.86%, they still need more efforts to compete with main China bus builders. GAC sold 172 large buses last year, ranking the seventeenth, adding 154 Hino large buses sales for its newly released. In addition, there were only thirty-four Sinotruk and four Dongfeng large buses sold.

The accumulated sales of large and medium buses were 58,600 units last year, up 21.92%. And 18,700 Yutong large and medium buses were sold, up 52.41%.

The only exception is Changan Auto. Its subsidiary, Baoding Changan Bus Manufacturing Company has a long history of producing buses, and their market share of medium buses have been not bad. Last year, 2,482 Changan medium buses were sold, up 32.02%, ranking the sixth in China bus industry.

Performance of FAW-Toyota JV was advantageous and sales of their high-end medium bus, COASTER, increased a lot. In addition, only 172 FAW medium buses were sold, down 29.39%, 1,499 Dongfeng medium buses were sold, down 4.40% and 303 GAC medium buses were sold, up 37.73%.

China light buses markets increased a lot last year, not only in terms of sales volumes but also on high-end bus model trends. Traditional light bus manufacturers were heading to produce high-end buses, and some bus builders with light buses business before started to produce light buses to take more markets shares. Accumulated sales volumes of light buses amounted to 237,600 units last year, up 29.99%.

According to statistics from CAAM, 2,497 Dongfeng light buses were sold, up 25.23%; 1,350 Changan light buses were sold, down 22.57%; 850 GAC light buses were sold, down 2.19%; 529 FAW light buses were sold, down 1.12%. And CNHTC did not sell any light buses.
