It can be seen from above that:

Average price for single bus model were increasing for the first nine months from 2006 to 2010. And the price gap was 28,400 Yuan from 2008 to 2009, which was due to the different price for national 2 and national 3 engines. However, the price gap was 11,100 Yuan from 2009 to 2010, so why the price increased that much in this period?

1. Sales growth of new energy buses drives the average price. 2,600 more new energy buses were sold out in the first nine months in 2010 over 2009, up 160%, in which, most were hybrid buses and gas fuel buses, and also pure electric buses. The average price for single hybrid bus is about 700,000 RMB, and the price for gas fuel bus is 330,000 Yuan, and the average price for pure electric bus is about 1.8 million Yuan.

2. Sales surges of 11-12m city buses pulled the average price. 3,092 more 11-12m city buses were purchased in the first nine months, nearly 60% of total city bus increment, and the single price for 11-12m city buses are about 400,000 Yuan, much higher than average city buses.

3. The competition between city buses and subway and light railways are getting much fiercely, so public transport companies are raising qualities and comfort to attract more passengers. And this will definitely influence the average price for single bus. During Shanghai World Expo, subway line 7 and line 8 were open, and public transport company updated their original old bus models and started more new bus lines to compete for passengers. And this will raise their costs of purchasing buses.

4. The more and more higher living standards in cities and countries will raise passengers’ expectations on buses. With living conditions get better in countryside and towns, 5-6m medium buses were hot sold in the first three quarters, up 535%.

5. The higher level of exported buses is important factors to drive the surging prices. Single price for exported buses were 368,900 Yuan, up 66,400 Yuan over last year.
