Shown above, the sales volume of the 11~12-meter highway buses is 12,217 units with the biggest market capacity, taking 15.32% of the overall sales, but it decreases by 13.5% year-on-year with 4.1 percent more than the industry decline. It indicates that 11~12-meter bus is the backbone force in the highway bus market but declining with the big amplitude.

 

2. The analysis on the sales proportion of 10~11-meter bus in each length.

 

Shown above, the  sales volume of the 11~12-meter highway buses is 11,052 units, taking 23.9% in the total sales (46,338 units) in the first 11 months 2009. It ranks the top in the various lengths, and then 11~12-meter bus(9,783 units) with 21.1% and 8~9-meter bus(7,647 units) with 16.5%.

Shown above, 10~11-meter bus takes the biggest proportion in both 2008 and 2009 and it rises by 0.8 percent in 2009. It indicates that 10~11-meter bus is undoubtedly the backbone force with strong momentum.

Shown above, Guangdong owns the biggest sales volumes of 10~11-meter bus with 1072 units and 9.7% market concentration rate in the first 11 months of 2009. Then Jiangsu with 1028 units and 9.3%, Shandong with 796 units and 7.2%. Among the cities, Shanghai takes the biggest sales volumes of 10~11-meter bus with 641 units and 5.8% market concentration. Then Beijing with 573 units and 5.2%, Chongqing with 309 units and 2.8%. The concentration ratio of the top 15 indicates that sales areas of the 10~11-meter bus don't distribute uniformly but focus the areas and cities mentioned above, which offers the quantizing evidence of the marketing strategy as well as the allocation of resources for the manufacturers of 10~11-meter bus.

1. Chongqing Hengtong takes the leading in the 10~11-meter bus with the sales volume of 1525 units and market concentration of 13.8%, then Shanghai Sunwin with 1251 units and 11.3%, Dongfeng Yangtze with 1080 units and 9.8%. The concentration ratio of the top 3 builders takes 34.9%, which indicates the degree of the monopoly is high in the 10~11-meter bus.

 

2. It is not easy for other builders to enter into the market of 10~11-meter bus in terms of the 73% concentration ratio of the top 10 builders.
