Thermo King is showing its next generation of Athenia heat pumps for hybrid and electric buses at Busworld and the new lightweight TDD air conditioning units for double-deckers.
According to Thermo King, the newest generation of the Thermo King Athenia MkII electric heat pump range offers up to 30% more heating power and efficiency compared to its predecessor. The new generation of units introduced at Busworld 2019 has a larger external heat exchanger, battery cooling and battery heating. All of this, depending on the operating conditions, contributes to an increase in heating capacity of up to 26 percent and to an efficiency increase of up to 33 percent compared to the previous generation of heat pumps.
The new TDD units that Thermo King presents are around 30 kilos lighter and can be equipped with an electrostatic air filter that allows smaller particles to be filtered and the filter cleaning interval to be extended up to 10 times.
