On January 4, Yutong released a report of its business performance in 2017. According to the report, the bus maker produced 67,231 units buses in 2017, down by 5.29% year on year. Its sales volume reached 67,568 units, down by 4.82% year on year. Specifically, the sales volume of its large-sized buses reached 27,704 units, up by 9.29% year on year; the sales volume of its medium-sized buses stood at 31,992 units, down by 15.79% year on year; the sales volume of its light buses registered at 7,872 units, up by 2.93% year on year.
In December, Yutong produced 11,181 units buses, up by 9.40% year on year and up by 22.45% compared with that in the previous month. In the same month, it sold 13,140 units buses, including 6,397 units large-sized buses, 5,968 units medium-sized buses, and 775 units light buses. Its sales volume in December grew by 21.01% year on year and 70.96% compared with that in the previous month.

From the table above, it can be seen that Yutong’s large-sized buses grew explosively in December with its sales volume 75.69% more than that in the same month in 2016 and nearly three times of that in November this year.
Also in December, Yutong sold 5,968 units medium-sized buses, down by 11.15% year on year. Compared with a sales volume of 4,473 registered in November in 2017, its sales volume in December jumped by 33.42%.
In 2017, Yutong produced 25,066 units new energy buses, down by 5.60%. In the same year, its sales volume of new energy buses reached 24,865 units, down by 7.41%. Specifically, it sold 20,345 units electric buses, down by 6.11% year on year. In addition, its sales of electric medium-sized buses registered at 11,558 units, down by 27.35% year on year. In contrast, its electric large-sized buses sold 8,152 units, up by 51.47% year on year.
In 2017, China’s 224 enterprises rolled out 3,233 different models of new energy vehicles. Among them, 179 models are branded with Yutong, accounting for 5.5% of the total, fully demonstrating the bus maker’s leading position in the emerging industry.
Thanks to the introduction of its internet-connected buses and its third generation school buses as well as its robust expansion in the overseas markets, Yutong performed particularly well in such sectors as school buses, high-end business buses and tour buses for scenic areas.
