www.chinabuses.org: From January to October in 2015, China’s bus export witnessed a 12% decline. Against such a declining trend, Golden Dragon managed to maintain a continued growing momentum in its exports. In the first three quarters of this year, the bus maker realized an export revenue of 130 million USD, up by nearly 20% year on year. For the whole year, the company is expected to pocket a total overseas revenue of 180 million USD (about 1.15 billion RMB). Peng Dongqing, Executive Deputy General Manager of Golden Dragon reveals that “apart from our robust growth in the foreign markets, we are now set to grow by 20% in terms of our overall sales for the whole year”.

Golden Dragon’s new energy bus sector, after years of hard work and preparation, also saw sharp rise in its sales in this year. For the whole, it is estimated that the sales of its new energy vehicles accounts for one quarter of its overall sales of buses and coaches. Currently, Golden Dragon’s classic models, such as Coaster and Sea Lion have electric versions available. Plus, it now boasts a wide spectrum of bus and coach products with a number of well received city buses and coaches.

When China’s First Youth Games was held in Fuzhou in October this year, 150 units Golden Dragon electric buses were put into operation to provide transportation services for such a high-profile event. On the back of its rich experience, Golden Dragon came up with a set of service plans to ensure the smooth flow of all athletes, participants and audiences during the games.

On November 30, the 50,000th unit Golden Dragon bus went on its way abroad. On the same day, 137 units Golden Dragon buses with Euro VI Emission Standards were exported to Israel. Operating Director from DAN Corp., the second largest carrier in Israel noted that Golden Dragon is trustworthy partner, saying “its high quality and relentless spirit to serve customers have gained the brand not only trust but also fame.” As the first bus brand entering Israeli market from China, Golden Dragon boasts a fleet of 500 units by the end of this year, ranking the first place by beating all other well known European bus brands.

When they arrived in the country, its capital Dares Salaam, held a grand ceremony to celebrate the official operation of the bus fleet. Meanwhile, the Golden Dragon bus fleet successfully made its way to the headline on various media, showing the competitive strengths of “Made-in-China” buses.

Golden Dragon’s overseas expansion can never be said as a smooth road. As early as 2007, the company made to the top among all domestic bus makers in terms of bus export volume. However, the global financial crisis in 2008 dragged it to the rock bottom. In the face of a host of challenges, Golden Dragon made a number of bold moves and set up its overseas companies. Since then, it has also strengthened its efforts in terms of technological innovation, marketing, financing, after-sales services, etc. Soon, its staff involved in overseas business grew to over 140.

With continuously improved technological competitiveness, Golden Dragon is China’s first bus maker to win WVTA certificate and AEBS certificate from EU. The successful export of Golden Dragon buses with Euro VI Emission Standards to Israel speaks volume of the high quality and reliability of its vehicles. Currently, Golden Dragon is going through a new transformation, shifting its focus on just doing trade business in the global market to proactively involving itself in the global business. Moreover, its overseas markets have also gradually expanded from those less developed regions to some top-tier nations in the world. In less than two decades, Golden Dragon has set a good example for all enterprises in China who share the same ambition to go global.

The export of Golden Dragon’s 50,000th unit bus has pushed the bus maker to a new height. People’s Daily, one of China’s leading newspapers, also made a special report on Golden Dragon’s Overseas Expansion. “The new height means a brand new start for us. In the next five years, we aim to increase our overseas sales to one fourth of our overall sales. Our overseas expansion and our new energy bus sector will certainly become the two highlights of our future growth”, says Peng Dongqing, Executive Deputy General Manager of Golden Dragon.
