Although China buses export was booming these years, most buses were exported to underdeveloped and low technical barrier countries and areas due to low added value, low technologies and extreme similarity of China buses. Market shares of China traditional buses in European and American markets were small due to the technology gap.

Alfa’s overseas strategy focused on how to break through the barriers and obtain business opportunities with high value-added products. As a newcomer in traditional buses field, Alfa wouldn’t succeed in the competitive overseas market with low value-added traditional buses.
For many years, Alfa insisted on the development of high-end and high value-added products and shaped its own feature, especially advantaged technologies of pure electric buses and BRT buses, which attracted many purchasers from Western Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, Hongkong and Taiwan. Hundreds of pure electric buses were exported to Italy and EU and the first pure electric buses were exported to Taiwan, which meant a lot not only to Alfa, but also to China buses in international competition.
