In March 2010, Xiamen Pubilc Transport Group signed the purchasing order of 300 natural gas buses with King Long, making an opening of low carbon traffic and city. As the local famous company, King Long undertook the task of green and environmental city buses as well as related service.
According to the public transport group, the first 50 CNG buses would mainly be used at No.3, No.46 and No.99 bus routes. By the end of this year, there will be 300 natural gas buses to be updated and the rest of 250 units will be applies in succession. It is known that the number of the natural gas buses will gradually increase in Xiamen in future 3-5 years, up to 1000-1500 units, accounting for about 40%-50% of total, in the meantime, 10 CNG plants are going to be build up in the city.

The first applied CNG buses are King Long XMQ6105G5 CNG city buses. This model is 10.5-meter long and owns the driving range of about 300 kilometers as well as the capacity of 70 people with large-sized operation in big cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and South America and Southeast Asian. These newly launching CNG buses show difference from conventional buses (yellow as ground color) and BRT buses (blue body) for appearance: green as ground color, representing clean energy. Overhead Six gas-tanks and three Safety valve doors including pipeline valve, gas-tank solenoid valves and engine solenoid valves are equipped with this model.
