There is no doubt that new energy and energy-saving auto industry which is closely related with climate will develop rapidly. Recently it’s learned from Dongfeng Cummins that their diesel engines are serving the first batch of seventy Dongfeng hybrid buses. After production and test riding, the buses are heading to Wuhan. And this is another successful application after serving Wuzhoulong hybrid buses late last year.

Some experts pointed out that all circles in society will make every effort to promote development of new energy and energy-saving automobile after Beijing Olympic Games. And this has been proved just after the Games. According to statistics from CAAM, over thirty enterprises from seventeen provinces and cities have evolved into hybrid bus industry by Oct. 2009.

Dongfeng Cummins investments in hybrid industry greatly promoted industrialization of Chinese hybrid bus industry. Till now, Dongfeng Cummins takes over 70% market shares of domestic hybrid buses industry.

The first batch of fifty Wuzhoulong hybrid buses equipped with Dongfeng Cummins diesel engines were put into use in October 2008, starting industrialization of Chinese hybrid buses. As introduced by person in charge of the batch of buses in Shenzhen Public Transport Company, after running one year, attendance rate of the buses are up to 96%, higher than conventional buses, and fuel saving ratio is over 25%, in this way, as much as 90,000 yuan can be saved one year, and more than twenty-seven ton CO2 can be cut than conventional buses.

Dongfeng Cummins signed with Dongfeng with one thousand hybrid buses in early 2009, and the joint produced Dongfeng hybrid buses will be put into Wuhan, and Nanchang and Kunming etc cities are also interested with Cooperation with Dongfeng Cummins.

Currently new energy auto is rather hot; Grid giants are constructing charging stations across China and all related circles of new energy auto is working to the wave. And government is trying to give more subsidies to new energy auto purchase. As supported by Financial Department and Public Works, many policies supporting new energy auto is ready to launch.

Some industrial insiders pointed out that although many aspects of new energy markets are not mature; development of the industry in China is rather active overall. Once implementation of various development plan and supporting policies, development of Chinese new energy auto will come into a new phase.
