Huanghai Electric Buses Appear in Changzhou

2010-01-05    Source:www.chinabuses.org

www.chinabuses.org : It is possible that Changzhou Public Transport will purchase new energy vehicles with the support and promotion of the local government. On 26 December 2009, the agreement of intent was signed between Changzhou Public Transport Group and Huanghai Bus with the first twenty 12-meter pure electric buses at the inauguration ceremony for the production. It means the new step of the Changzhou in the electric cars area and the realizing of the green dream of zero emission, pollutant and light noise shortly. However, it still takes much time to run the electric buses produced by local builders.

It is known that Changzhou Public Transport Group is currently equipped with 2500 buses, mainly including diesel fuel, gasoline and gas hybrid power vehicles. The related expert said that, " This is just the agreement of intent not the final one with specific details. According to the standpoint of the government, it is certain for the gradual promotion of the electric buses but requires time."

The manager of Changzhou branch of SG Automotive Group showed that this model only took 3-4 hours for charging with the driving range of around 300km as well as zero emission and pollutant. They were planning to establish the facilities for charging when new buses would be released and gradually improved the problems in the battery life, price and technical fault in the near future.

It is understood that the electric buses with lithium iron phosphate battery cost 175 -292 thousand USD while the ordinary buses take 58 thousand USD. In the long term, the operation cost of the electric buses is one fifth of that of the ordinary buses. However, the initial investment and the cost of battery bring out the heavy pressure for the promotion aside from the subsidy.
