Recently, 20 units of 16-meter Huanghai DD6160S series city buses started service in Wuhan, provincial capital of central China’s Hubei Province. These buses, with fairly long bodies and uniform green color, have immediately grabbed residents’ attention and were nicknamed as “accordion buses” by the local people. 

 Huanghai Buses Arrive in Wuhan 

In early this year, Wuhan Public Transport Group sped up its pace in replacement of its old bus fleet. Some busy routes, like line 508 and 715, etc. were in desperate need of new buses with large carrying capacity so as to provide passengers with more comfortable travel service. However, a careful research shows that it is not quite feasible to use buses measuring 17-18 or 13-14 meters long. After a long time of market research and enquiry, the bus operator finally decided Dandong Huanghai DD6160S series city bus could best suit its needs.

Mounted with domestically produced Euro Ⅲ compliant diesel engine, Huanghai DD6160S city bus boasts lower operational costs and higher environmental friendliness. Its imported automatic transmission (hydraulic retarder) and air suspension make the bus easier to drive and more comfortable to ride. With lower emissions, the bus is quieter while in motion and is capable of carrying up to 150 passengers. The design of three doors also helps the bus drop and pick up passengers more easily.
